How We Support Supplier Diversity
Our Supplier Diversity program has several components.
- We have a dedicated email address (supplierdiversity@biotronik.com) for communication with our Procurement team so that qualified businesses can communicate directly with us, and to provide certification documents in a confidential manner.
- We actively source qualified diverse suppliers to participate in our Request for Proposals as part of our competitive bidding process.
- We use supplier directories and data bases to seek and research qualified suppliers.
- We encourage all diverse suppliers to register with our company (please see form below).
- We provide feedback and advice to diverse businesses about BIOTRONIK, Inc., procurement procedures to support their participation.
Criteria and Resources for Contracting Suppliers
- Small Business (SB) - is one which is independently owned and operated with 500 or fewer employees. A firm, including its affiliates, which is independently owned and operated, is not dominant in its field of operation, and qualifies as a small business under the criteria and size standards in 13 CFR part 121 (see FAR 19.102). - Veteran Owned (VO) & Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVO) - is one which is at least 51% owned and managed by one or more individuals in either of the two categories. This can include publically owned businesses that have at least 51% of stock unconditionally owned by one or more of these individuals and whose management and daily business is controlled by one or more such individuals.

- Woman Owned (WO) - is one which is at least 51% owned by a woman who is a US citizen, who makes policy decisions and is actively involved in the day-to-day management of the business.

- HUBZone (HUB) - is one where it's principal office is located within a HUBZone (which includes lands on federally recognized Indian reservations); it is owned and controlled by one or more US citizens; and at least 35% of its employees reside in a HUBZone. A HUBZone small business must be certified as such by the Small Business Administration.

- Small Disadvantaged (SDB) - is one which is at least 51% owned by one or more individuals who are both socially and economically disadvantaged. This can include publically owned businesses if at least 51% of its stock is unconditionally owned by one or more such individuals and if the public company's management and daily business is controlled by one or more such individuals.

- Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) - is one which is 51% owned by a minority who is a US citizen, who makes policy decisions and is actively involved in the day-to-day management of the business.

- Alaska Native Corporation (ANC) - means any Regional Corporation, Village Corporation, Urban Corporation, or Group Corporation organized under the laws of the State of Alaska in accordance with the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act, as amended (43 U.S.C. 1601, et seq ).

- Indian tribe (IT) - means any Indian tribe, band, nation, or other organized group or community of Indians, including any ANC, which is recognized as eligible for the special programs and services provided by the United States to Indians because of their status as Indians, or is recognized as such by the State in which the tribe, band, nation, group, or community resides.
